Children’s Books to Help Ease Anxiety About Dental Visits

Books are a great way to explain an unknown or scary topic, such as a trip to the dentist, to a child. If your child is experiencing anxiety about coming to see us for their regular checkup (or if it’s their first visit), consider reading them a book about going to the dentist to help ease their fears.

Familiar characters, fun illustrations, and an easy-to-understand story can make the experience less stressful for both first-time and seasoned patients.

We’ve gathered a few of our favorite dental books for kids. We encourage you to check out one (or more!) of these books and read them with your child before you visit us.

Five Great Books for Kids about Visiting the Dentist

  1. The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist – by Stan and Jan Berenstain
  2. Just Going to the Dentist (Little Critter) – by Mercer Mayer
  3. Curious George Visits the Dentist – by H.A. Rey
  4. Show Me Your Smile: A Visit to the Dentist (Dora the Explorer) – by Christina Ricci
  5. Dentist Trip (Peppa Pig)

All of these books are available on both Amazon and through the Mid-Continent Public Library. The summer reading program through the library is a great way for your kids to earn fun prizes and free books.
